The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea.
— Isak Dinesen

Welcome to Salt Water Alchemy, a safe haven of support where the sea of your grief transforms. Everything you’re feeling and going through right now is welcomed here.

Here, you will find a sanctuary where your experience of sorrow and loss are honored, held in confidence, and acknowledged through deep listening, gentle inquiry, and loving presence. Here, you are met where you are in your own experience of grief because no one else’s grief is like yours. Here, a variety of ways to feel supported are available because sometimes just talking about how you feel doesn’t give your grief the opportunity to be fully expressed in ways that might best support your own healing process. Every person’s journey of of mourning and healing is different because we grieve differently. And because everyone grieves differently, I offer a different approach on how to ‘be with’ that which is life-altering and feels unbearable at times.

You are not alone.

Your grief, your loss(es), and your story are all your own and they matter. They matter because right now, in addition to your own grief experience and life circumstances, you are living in this tumultuous time of uncertainty, anxiety, and sorrow that is profound in our world.

What affects one of us affects us all. What affects all affects every one of us.

Whatever grief is moving through you right now, you do not have to navigate it all on your own. Salt Water Alchemy offers a variety of services and experiences so you can choose what kind of support and care feels most aligned with who you are and what might serve you best.

Everything is welcome here.

Your emotions and feelings.

Your body and your being.

Your unspoken secrets
and your hidden lies.

The things you love
and the things you despise.

Everything is welcome here.

Your fixed ideas
and your fluid bits.

Your sweetest self
and your nastiest shit.

Your broken heart
and your burning soul.

The you that is shattered.

The you that is whole.

Everything is welcome here.

Your unmet needs
and your deepest desires.

Your coldest ice
and your hottest fire.

Your mournful howl
and your despairing moan.

The you, you love.

The you, you disown.

Everything is welcome here.

Your darkest dark.

Your lightest light.

You letting it all go.

You hanging on fierce tight.

Your courageous spirit.

Your ego-hungry trance.

Your silence and stillness.

Your voice and your dance.

Everything is welcome here.

Salt WaterAlchemy offers embodied and expressive ways to be with grief and loss that are like the sea… fluid, inspiring, and healing.

Our bodies, our minds, and our hearts are like the sea.
Steady, yet fragile. Fickle, yet assured. Tumultuous, yet calm.

Our emotions can move us in a variety of ways depending on our life circumstances and experiences. That’s one of the reasons why a different therapeutic approach to being with grief and the grieving process is offered here. Your grief is unlike anyone else’s.

On-line and in-person support is available no matter where you live.

I offer my services from where I live on the island of Kauai. I am also available to travel to wherever you reside and make your home in the world. While I always prefer to work and be with people in-person, the expense of travel and accommodations can be prohibitive. Fortunately, online support is available through Zoom which makes time negotiable with one’s schedule, location irrelevant to making deep connections, and money less of an objection to saying yes to what is desired.

Meet Lila

Hello and Aloha.

I am glad you have found your way here and I’m also sorry for whatever grief you are currently experiencing in your life. Having worked in the health and wellbeing fields for the last thirty years, primarily focused on personal growth, embodiment, and expressive arts, I am deeply curious about our emotional, creative, and spiritual experiences of being human. I have navigated through my own gauntlet of grief and loss and while I believe the best medicine for one’s wounds comes from within, a lot of healing happens in communion and connection with others. Helping others tend to their grief through movement and creative expression is my mission. Expanding our own capacity to grieve and our capacity to support others who are grieving is my vision for all human beings.
